John grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Bartlesville High School. He has two bachelor's degrees from the University of Oklahoma in history and accounting. He was an active member in the Financial Managers Society, an organization which provides education and resources to professionals in the banking industry.  John has over thirty-five years of experience in banking. He worked for All America Bank from 1996 to 2018.  John joined the Board as an advisory director in 2023 and was elected as a Director in January 2024.
